1.Laboratory use

Sodium bicarbonate can be used as an analytical reagent and also for inorganic synthesis.It can be used to prepare sodium carbonate sodium bicarbonate buffer solution.When a small amount of acid or alkali is added,it can keep the hydrogen ion concentration unchanged and keep the pH value of the system relatively stable.

2.Industrial use

Sodium bicarbonate can be used to produce acid alkali fire extinguishers and foam fire extinguishers.In the rubber industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used to produce rubber and sponge.In metallurgical industry,sodium bicarbonate can be used as a flux for casting steel ingots.In the mechanical industry,sodium bicarbonate can be used as a molding aid for cast steel (sand turning) sand mold.In the printing and dyeing industry,sodium bicarbonate can be used as a color fixing agent,an acid base buffer, and a post-treatment agent for fabric dyeing and finishing;Sodium bicarbonate can be added to the dyeing process to prevent the yarn drum from producing color streaks,and can also be used as a detergent for wool.

3.Food processing use

In food processing, sodium bicarbonate is the most widely used loosening agent, which is used to produce biscuits,bread,etc.but sodium carbonate will remain after the action.Excessive use will cause excessive alkalinity of food,resulting in poor flavor and yellowish brown color.It is the generating agent of carbon dioxide in soft drinks; It can be compounded with alum to form alkaline fermentation powder,or with soda ash to form civil soda;It can also be used as a butter preservative.It can be used as a color fixative in vegetable processing.Adding 0.1%~0.2% sodium bicarbonate to wash fruits and vegetables can make the green color stable.When sodium bicarbonate is used as a treatment agent for fruits and vegetables,it can increase the pH value of fruits and vegetables,improve the water holding capacity of proteins,promote the softening of food tissue cells,and dissolve the astringent ingredients by boiling and bleaching fruits and vegetables.In addition,it has the effect of removing mutton smell from goat milk,with the dosage of 0.001%~0.002%.

4.Agricultural and livestock use

Sodium bicarbonate can be used for agricultural seed soaking,and can also make up for the lack of lysine content in the feed.Dissolving sodium bicarbonate in a small amount of clean water or mixing it with concentrate to feed cattle (adding an appropriate amount) can promote the growth of cattle,and can also significantly increase the milk yield of cows.

5.Medical use

Sodium bicarbonate can be used as the raw material of pharmaceuticals to treat gastric hyperacidity,metabolic acidosis,and alkalize urine to prevent uric acid kidney stones.It can also reduce the nephrotoxicity of sulfa drugs,prevent hemoglobin from depositing in renal tubules during acute hemolysis,and treat the symptoms caused by excessive gastric acid;Intravenous drip has non-specific therapeutic effect on barbiturates,salicylic acids and methanol poisoning.However,it is forbidden to use it for gastric lavage when swallowing strong acid poisoning,and arrhythmia,muscle spasm,pain,abnormal fatigue and weakness,slow breathing,odor in the mouth, frequency of urination,urgency of urination,persistent headache,anorexia,nausea, vomiting,etc.may occur when a large number of injections,renal insufficiency or long-term use.
